KIWANIS Celebrates Youth

The annual Community Yard Sale and Pancake Breakfast was held on June 3rd. It was hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Warner Center at the Woodland Hills United Methodist Church on 5650 Shoup Avenue on June 3rd.

The Yard Sale featured “treasures” donated by members of the Kiwanis Club, their friends and neighbors and will include collectibles, art work, books, CDs, electronics, appliances, furniture and clothes, etc. - all for a good cause.

Proceeds from the Yard Sale and Pancake Breakfast will be used to fund community service projects in which Kiwanis is involved.  One of these is its signature event, an equestrian competition for special athletes which is held each fall at the Hansen Dam Equestrian Center.  Upwards of 100 athletes spend the day competing with their proud families looking on and cheering.  The athletes and their families are treated to breakfast and lunch with entertainment during the noon hour - all of which is paid for by the Kiwanis Club of Warner Center with a generous grant from the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Charities to help defray costs.

In addition to its Kiwanis Equestrian Competition for Special Athletes (KECSA), the Kiwanis Club of Warner Center helps at Ronald McDonald House, cooking Sunday night dinners for families whose children are receiving medical care at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles; hangs American flags along Ventura Boulevard between Memorial Day and 9/11 - a tribute to our veterans; hosts play dates for special needs children at Brandon’s Village - and hosts of other activities designed to carry out the mission of Kiwanis to “make the world better for children, one community at a time.”

The members of the Kiwanis Club of Warner Center are making this an annual event for the Woodland Hills community and an opportunity for people to get to know Kiwanis and the work it is doing in and around the neighborhood.  It welcomes the chance to partner with other organizations which need to raise funds.  Any non-profit that would like to earn $3 for each Pancake Breakfast ticket it sells, should contact Linda Rice at or (818) 883-0336.  You may also complete the information below & one of our club members will contact you.  Thanks you for your continued support.
